Patch Tuesday January 2026

Patch Tuesday January 2026: Apple saves the best for last, Microsoft patch mayhem and more updates for your small business devices.

Apple Update Bytes

Apple released a ton of updates January 26th and 28th for all their supported products PLUS updates for older iPhones and iPads. Apple updated the previously beyond support devices to allow Facebook and app functionality. I recommend you use iPhone 12 and up for business but if you have older devices for your kids you should check for updates.

Apple updated their Keynotes and Pages software for macOS Sequioa 15.6 and later.

The latest version of iOS and iPad is 26.2.1. The latest version of macOS is 26.2.

Microsoft Updates Bytes

Boy, the January Microsoft updates bit and bit. After releasing Patch Tuesday January updates on the 13th, Microsoft had to release not one but TWO patches to fix the patches. One of the updates put some Windows 11 computers into a boot frenzy. Another update caused Outlook to crash (this is separate from M365 outage January 22nd).

It’s hard to convince folks to install updates immediately when crap like that happens. Security researchers assert you need to patch or perish. Vulnerability exploits dominate intrusions.

Lenovo updates

Lenovo released BIOS updates for most of their laptops and desktops this month even on older laptops.

You can access your Lenovo updates from Lenovo Vantage software on your computer.

The BIOS updates take about 10 to 15 minutes and involve rebooting your plugged in device.

Internet Browser Updates

Chrome and its imitators released security updates January 29th.

This is the easiest update ever. Honest. Just close and reopen your browser.
