What is Total Cost of Ownership? TCO is the cost of installing/deploying computer software or hardware plus operational costs such backup, security, insurance , and replacement/recycling costs.

Example: you purchase a new laptop for your business. Hardware cost is $2000. Monthly backup is $10. Antivirus monthly is $10. Maintenance $200 per year. Training your employee $100. Percentage of your cyberinsurance $50 per year. That’s for the life of the laptop. Plus cost of recycling $100 and cost to replace. Add all that up and you have TCO for the laptop.
