Ransomware

What is ransomware? Ransomware, a type of malware, blocks access to computer files until a ransom is paid. Hackers increasingly target big companies in order to get a bigger payoff than from small businesses. However small businesses are still at risk for this attack.

The best defense against ransomware is a ransomware-proof full backup of all your systems. Your cyber-insurance may not cover the cost of the ransom if you have not secured your data properly. Further, governments, tired of the expensive attacks, are looking at making it illegal to pay the ransom to stop these attacks from happening.
