Internet of Things

What is the Internet of Things? IOT describes consumer devices connected to the internet usually for ease of management. Example: a kettle that sends an alert to your phone informing you the water is boiled.

Typically manufacturers don’t spend much money on securing these devices so hackers can use them to infiltrate your office network. In 2017 hackers infiltrated a casino via a “smart” fish tank and netted a list of the casino’s biggest spenders.

In computer security they are often referred to as the Internet of Sh**ty Things.
