Patch Tuesday April 2026

Apple Security Blossoms

Apple released a ton of updates this month. The latest Mac OS update requires over 11GB of space, always good to check your storage via Settings before trying to install a large update like this.

Apple fixed a Mac OS security hole that allowed hackers to steal login info known as ClickFix.

Apple released TWO updates this month for iOS and iPadOS. The latest fixed a problem Apple downplayed as database problem but instead this was the OS storing sensitive information from the Signal app long after it should have been deleted. More details on this security problem here.

Be aware that Apple (like Microsoft and other vendors) downplay the security angle to their updates regularly which fools users into thinking these updates are not important or only new features. A lot of folks distrust new features hence they don’t update when they should.

ScanSnap Firmware

People often forget that devices like scanners and printers require their own updates.

Scansnap recently released firmware updates for their popular scanners. This firmware is a) security update and b) helps the scanner save to Scansnap Cloud storage for folks who use that feature.

Give a little updated love to your scanners and printers this month.
